Luminor has its roots in the 80s but its head fully in today’s world. Founded by a senior marketing executive in 1983, the agency grew through the 80’s and 90’s to serve some of the largest brands in the world, including Sony, Microsoft, and HP. At one point, the agency staff numbered 70, tidily ensconced in three separate offices in Washington and California. In the year 2001, laden with layers of senior executives, seriously encumbered with old-style thinking, agency ownership began a rapid transformation of the firm then known as "Creative works" into a new, limber, creative firm called Luminor.

What’s left is what should never have been left out.

Luminor is comprised of senior professionals in the major marketing and communications disciplines. Experts. Some might say, Luminaries.

The Luminor team works in virtual fashion, without ivory halls, walls, pedestals or heavy overhead; tied together by the latest technology and a common purpose.

Every brand discipline is applied to serve the marketing objectives of Luminor clients, but integrated as appropriate into a brilliant plan. Then measured against mutually agreed metrics to ensure that creativity yields wisdom. And results.

There are many in our profession who believe that creativity is the only essential ingredient in branding. We don't disagree that creativity is essential, however there are plenty of shocking examples of companies whose advertising won awards in competitions judged by, who else, advertising people, and who then lost market share as a result of their award-winning campaigns. Just so you know, yes we have won more than our fair share of awards for creativity, but the successes in which we're most proud are the sales increases of our clients.

Like Wall Data, a software company that had annual revenues of $3 million per year for ten years. Within four years of our involvement the company’s revenues were over $100 million. While we were responsible for just part of the overall effort, you’ll see surprising similarities with other clients.

Like HP. We started working with HP in the early 1990's. At the time the company had recently introduced inkjet printing to the world. As a global enterprise, the company seriously asked how it could protect its market for the supplies that were used in the printers, especially in light of what had happened to make laser printing toner a commodity. Our work in building a defendable brand has helped keep HP the dominant supplier of ink and other supplies – a business unit that is more profitable than all other business units of HP combined! Our 12-year relationship with them is built on this history.

Like non-profits such as Northwest Harvest and Childhaven, for whom we have worked to rebrand and reinvigorate their messages, all out of the goodness of our hearts.

One of the world’s best branding agencies.

Okay, we didn’t say that about Luminor. It was said by Forbes Radio. The influential business publisher hosts a monthly business radio program that airs on the audio programming of every flight of American Airlines, the world’s largest airline. In July of 2002, they interviewed Luminor as part of their spotlight on the world’s best branding firms. And in February of 2002 Luminor's CEO was interviewed as part of a program on Branding Legends, aired on all United Airlines flights around the world.

Our expertise has also received the highest recognition – clients who hire us.

Microsoft retained us to rebrand a global business unit. This new branding required us to interview top executives of Fortune 50 companies in a number of different countries.

HP has used our branding expertise extensively over the last 12 years. Among the many brand reinforcement programs we have created for HP have been online learning and lifestyle content, as well as channel development programs. We've been honored with awards, results and the best scores in tests against some of the top online sites in the world.

We’ve been favored with branding assignments from large corporations like Sony, Alcoa, General Dynamics as well as dozens of smaller, more local companies.

But enough about us, let's talk about you. Call either of our offices and we'll arrange to come listen. Southern California - 949.589.2478. Seattle - 206.956.0300.
